Dr. Randall A. Plaisance Jr., DVM
Owner & Lead Veterinarian
Dr. Randall Plaisance grew up in Baton Rouge, LA and moved to Auburn, AL to attend Auburn University when he was 17 years old. He has since only wandered from Alabama briefly during his professional development, and considers it a great blessing to serve the wonderful people of Central Alabama.
Dr. Plaisance has production experience in commercial cow-calf as well as seedstock cattle production involving advanced reproductive techniques. Additionally, he has worked in equine and dairy production, all prior to entering the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduating from AUCVM he entered private practice for several years before opening Castaway Animal Clinic. Dr. Plaisance practices on all domestic species, with interests in equine dentistry and performance medicine, as well as embryo transfer in cattle.
The father of four children, Dr. Randy is active in his local church and athletic communities, coaching local wrestling and softball clubs, as well as competing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and triathlon events. He is married to Lisa Plaisance DVM, the owner of Dadeville Animal Clinic in Dadeville, AL.
Barbara Meinhardt
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Barbara was born and raised in Germany. After she finished her associate’s degree in social pedagogy, she moved to the U.S. in 2006. Shortly after she started working at Hurtsboro Veterinary Clinic which fulfilled her life long dream of working with animals. In 2023 she finished her associate’s degree in science and obtained her license as a veterinary technician.
Barbara grew up in a rural area with various animals and lives on a small farm with her four dogs- Sophie, Sue, Ike and Irma, two horses, a donkey, four pot belly pigs and two sheep.
You will hardly ever see her without a dog. In her free time, she enjoys dog sports like- agility and rally, walking, running, hiking, working on the farm, and traveling.
Anna Zuback
Receptionist
Anna, a Pittsview, Alabama native, joined the Hurtsboro Veterinary Clinic team in May 2024. With a genuine love for animals and the outdoors, she’s dedicated to providing quality care to local pets. When she’s not at the clinic, Anna enjoys spending time outside with her two dogs, Buddy and Adena. They can often be found hiking, playing fetch, or simply soaking up the Alabama sunshine.
